Snow again stops work

Work has again been halted across the country after heavy snow falls prevented people from reaching their offices.

The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for further heavy snow in the Midlands, West Country and southern and eastern Wales.

Businesses are currently counting the cost on their productivity -according to the Federation of Small Businesses, the UK is losing £31 billion every day.

The wintry weather has forced firms to be more flexible, says computer security experts Symantec.

The firm told Computer Weekly: "With the biggest snowfall for 18 years hitting the UK today, many businesses have been forced to employ full remote working practices."

Online businesses are likely to be less troubled by the delays that are affecting transport networks.

Recent research by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) has shown retail sites, where people buy goods and services, are the most popular internet destinations.

According to the IAB, 20.7 million people looked at these sites in July last year.
