New e-learning programme launched for accountants

25/01/2008

Accountancy body the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) is set to launch a new web application providing e-learning to students.

The Student Learning centre will offer students access to learning content and self-assessments for each module via the internet as well as online registration and examination entry.

Adrian Pulham, director of education at the CIPFA, said: "By delivering learning content online we are able to offer so many more benefits over traditional textbooks - improved search functionality, better accessibility for visually impaired students, interactivity to engage with the content, links to websites and articles for further reading, and the immediacy of contacting peers to talk through topics in the discussion forums."

Judith Savage, National Student Forum representative, added: "CIPFA have a fantastic opportunity to modernise the Professional Accountancy Qualification with online learning, brining studying for accountancy exams into the 21st Century."

The CIPFA recently announced that members working in private practice, sole practitioners and contractors are now required to hold a Practicing Certificate.ADNFCR-1196-ID-18442242-ADNFCR
