Accountants struggle to keep fit at work
06/03/2008
Accountants and office workers are finding it hardest to keep a healthy balance and eat well at work, new research has found.
A study by PruHealth revealed that more than half (52 per cent) of desk-bound bankers and accountants regularly snack on chocolate throughout the working day.
"Grabbing a sandwich from a shop might seem like a healthy, quick-fix option, but it can sometimes be difficult to judge how nutritious the contents actually are," said Katie Roswell, marketing director.
"Encouraging staff to take a balanced approach to healthy eating can have a positive impact on employees' stress levels as well as their overall wellbeing."
Surprisingly, builders were happy to turn to healthy food while at work the study revealed 12 per cent of manual workers happily swap full lunches for salads and 53 per cent make their own sandwiches.
The Food Standards Agency has advised that a healthy balanced diet should contain a variety of foods and include at least five portions of fruit and veg per day.
