Accountancy firms will recruit graduates

29/09/2008

Accountancy firms have learned that it is essential to their business to recruit graduates, claims the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS).

According to Fiona Sandford, board member of AGCAS, the big accountancy firms have suffered by not employing graduates, which has led to two problems.

Firstly, they now have a "great hole running through their organisation", while they have also noticed that their reputation with students has dropped.

Despite this mistake, Ms Sandford believes that accountancy firms will make plenty of job vacancies available for graduate accountants this year.

"Students who would apply to the investment banks are going to be looking much more seriously at alternatives and I think are likely to look at the accountancy firms being a very sensible place to get some good professional training," she said.

PricewaterhouseCoopers was voted number one in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers poll followed by Deloitte in second place and KPMG in third. ADNFCR-1196-ID-18801957-ADNFCR
